Winter Fishing in Key West

The cold fronts have hit, and the fish are being very aggressive. We have been having a blast spotting great barracudas along the shallows and channels. Casting some of our favorite poppers and lures has been working great. Seeing the strike on the top water is truly a site to see. With long runs and teethy photo ops, anglers are having a blast!

Moving from area to area we have been running into some nice schools of Jacks. They can be seen crashing the water eating all the baitfish and causing quite a commotion. Using live bait and lures we continue to bend rods.

In Key West harbor the tarpon have been rolling early in the morning. 50-90 lbs. have been the average size right now and they seem to be rolling everywhere. Just as tarpon fishing is seeing many doesn’t mean catching many! However, Capt Joe has been getting some impressive numbers as of late going 1 for 4 yesterday and 3 for 5 the day before.
